The scholarship is awarded on merit and recognizes exceptional academic performance and research potential.

Merit-Based Scholarship 

These scholarships are awarded to high-achieving students based on their academic performance in their previous degrees. These scholarships are available for outstanding students, and the recommendations for these awards are made by the respective department during the annual application process. The value of the scholarship ranges from $1,000 to $12,000 per year.

International students are evaluated for the International Award of Excellence or the International Award of Merit, in addition to the entrance scholarships. These awards are given based on merit and are available to students who are admitted to Carleton University directly from high school. They are determined based on the student’s grades at the time of admission. There is no need for a separate application for these awards.

The Ronald and Deanna Biggs Scholarship is presented each year to an exceptional full-time undergraduate student enrolling in a Bachelor of Engineering program at Carleton University. To qualify, students must have

The David Muir Entrance Scholarship in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is offered to one exceptional student entering the first year of an undergraduate program within the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University. The scholarship is valued at $7,500 for the first year and is renewable at $4,000 or $3,000 in the second, third, and fourth years. 

To be eligible, students must be 

  • entering their first year of the program and pursuing post-secondary studies for the first time. 
  • The eligible programs of study are Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering, and Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering.

To be considered for this scholarship, students must have 

  • an admission average of 90% or higher. 
  • The selection committee will also evaluate the range of the student’s community or secondary school activities. 

The scholarship will replace any previously offered, renewable entrance scholarship. An application is required to be considered for the David Muir Entrance Scholarship in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
