Eligibility Criteria

• You must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application.
• You must be from one of the following countries: Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, Tunisia, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the United States.
• You must be currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or combined undergraduate/master’s program at an eligible institution. (A list of eligible institutions by country is available on the program website.)
• You must have one to three semesters remaining in your program as of Fall 2023. (Requirements may vary by country and can be found on the website.)
• You must meet the grade requirements for your country of study. (GPA requirements for each international partner can be found on the program website.)
• You must apply to a minimum of three and a maximum of seven projects, with selections from at least three different Canadian provinces.
• You must be fluent in the oral and written language of the project, which may be in English and/or French.
• You must be available to complete an internship lasting 12 consecutive weeks between May 1 and October 31.

How to Apply for the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship Program in Canada

The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship Program application process is as follows:

1. Review the eligibility criteria for the program, which may vary by country and international partner organisation in addition to the general GRI requirements.
2. Make sure your home country’s passport is still valid at least through January of the following year. If you don’t have a valid passport, you may still submit an application, but you will need to provide valid passport information if your application is approved.
3. Obtain a reference letter from a professor, following the instructions provided on the program website.
4. Update your CV, either by submitting your own or using the Mitacs template available on the program website.
5. Obtain your academic transcripts in either English or French. If your transcripts are not available in either language, you are responsible for getting them translated and notarised. Only university transcripts will be considered, so please do not submit your high school transcripts.
6. Check if English or French language proficiency tests are required for the country you are applying to.
7. Complete the online application form available on the program website. You will be asked to provide information about your academic discipline, program, and other educational information, as well as your research interests, skills, achievements, and reasons for pursuing research in Canada.
8. Submit your completed application before the application deadline, ensuring that all required documents and information have been included.
