How to Apply for the Nanyang Scholarship

  1. You must apply for admission to NTU during the same application period for admissions.
  2. Find the scholarship application form by clicking on the link “Apply for Scholarship” at the end of your online admission application. You need to log in with the application number assigned to you.
  3. Complete the scholarship application form, including a Personal Essay of no more than 300 words on one of three topics listed in the form.
  4. After completing the application form, submitting these documents:
  • a recent passport-size photo
  • a referee’s appraisal – your school teacher, who must not be a family member or relative, should complete the online appraisal form and submit it within seven days of your scholarship application. You will be provided with a URL to forward to your school teacher, along with your NTU application number and date of birth.

Note: If your teacher needs more time, he or she should submit the appraisal as soon as possible, preferably within two weeks of your scholarship application. Note that only one appraisal may be submitted online to support your application. 

If you apply for the Nanyang Scholarship, selection interviews will take place between March and May. Only applicants who are shortlisted for an interview will be notified by email around mid-May. Therefore, it is crucial to check your email regularly and be prepared to attend an interview on short notice. If you are offered either the Medicine or Renaissance Engineering programme, you should check with the school for the outcome of your scholarship application.

  • You are not allowed to concurrently hold any other scholarships, bursaries, university loans or awards without the approval of the University.
  • You are required to maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 over 5.0 throughout the scholarship. Your academic performance will be reviewed every semester.
  • You may be requested to take on the role of a student ambassador or a similar role to represent the university in various activities like publicity talks or hosting guests.
  • The scholarship can be revoked at any time if the University deems your progress or behaviour unsatisfactory.
  • If you decide to terminate the scholarship before completion, you will be required to repay the scholarship amount.
